Luke Hopkins Takes First Place on iSUP

Last weekend was the unofficial start of festivals and outdoor races in the east. For Body Glove Pro Rider Luke Hopkins, it meant once again taking on all comers at Tuck Fest, an annual North Carolina festival combining music, paddling events and love of outdoors.

Hopkins packed up the RV and headed to the popular festival with his wife, fellow Body Glove Ambassador Anne Pagano, as well as his two girls. Hopkins competed in several paddling events aboard his Body Glove Outfitter 11, a new reinforced inflatable standup paddleboard coming out this summer. He won both the SUP Cross and the SUP Enduro races.

The weekend was not without its drama, as Hopkins nearly wiped out when a fellow racer bumped into him during the Enduro competition. It caused Hopkins to spin out and nearly end his racing day. But Hopkins was able to right the ship, dig in and make up lost ground en route to victory.

“These two wins were some of the more satisfying SUP victories that I’ve had. To do it in front of my family and to come from behind in one of the races, narrowly avoiding disaster, I’m quite pleased. It’s a good start to the racing season.”

What’s more, the Hopkins girls both competed in a kids trail run race and finished second and third, respectively, proving that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Perhaps they’ll also be future Body Glove Pro Riders.
